You may have been thinking about improving your smile but the thought of traditional braces has made you hesitate, clear aligners could be the solution you've been searching for. At Power Dental Practice, we're committed to providing advanced and patient-friendly orthodontic options like clear aligners, which are becoming a preferred choice for adults and teens across Australia. We have been successfully treating patients with clear aligners at Power Dental for about 20 years now.
Embracing Clear Aligners
Clear aligners are a contemporary orthodontic treatment that uses a series of custom-made, nearly invisible trays to move your teeth gradually. These aligners are removable and made of a smooth, comfortable plastic that won't irritate your cheeks or gums—making them a practical alternative to conventional wire braces. They are particularly good where there is crowding of front teeth and where teeth do not need to be rotated (twisted) too much or dragged down a long way. Not only do straighter teeth make you look better, they make for easier cleaning and less chance of dental disease (decay and gum problems).
Because aligners are almost invisible they are more easily accepted b adults of all ages who would not like to show off a line of braces. I (Dr Power) had aligners to straighten my teeth when I was over 50. We have had patients in their 70s straighten their teeth with aligners, as well as teenagers and young adults.

The Benefits of Choosing Clear Aligners
Many of our patients appreciate the discreet nature of clear aligners, allowing them to undergo treatment without feeling self-conscious. Moreover, the removability of the aligners offers the flexibility to maintain proper oral hygiene and enjoy a wide variety of foods without restriction. While we recommend you wear the aligners as much as possible (22 hours a day, ideally) you can take them out on occasions, where required - unlike fixed braces.
The Treatment Process with Power Dental Practice
The journey to a straighter smile with clear aligners begins with a detailed consultation at our practice. Utilising state-of-the-art intra-oral scanning technology, we capture accurate images of your teeth, ensuring a custom fit and effective treatment plan tailored just for you.
As you progress through your series of aligners, each set will make slight adjustments to the position of your teeth. While treatment duration varies depending on individual needs, most of our patients achieve their desired results within 6 to 18 months. Usually we provide you with an initial set of aligners and after that we often re-scan (or take new impressions) and photos and provide a second round of refinement aligners.
Maintaining Your New Smile
After completing your treatment with clear aligners, we'll provide you with removable retainers (which are similar to the aligners) to ensure your teeth stay in place. We also usually recommend a fixed wire on the inside of your lower front teeth to make sure they don't move far, even if you give up on wearing the removable retainers in the long term. We sometime also recommend a wire on the upper front teeth in selected cases. We'll also guide you through the best practices for cleaning your aligners and maintaining your oral hygiene to keep your smile shiny and healthy.
